Three hand creams for any situation

While the rest of me gets covered with tights and jumpers, hands and face remain uncovered. Moisturising my face is second nature, but I easily forget that my hands need the same amount of love.

I've chosen three hand creams which between them cover just about every hand cream need.

The bedside table wonder:

Burt's Bees Almond and Milk Hand Cream (£10.99)

Rich, comforting and smells heavenly. Packed with lovely sweet almond oil, I slather this on at bedtime and wake up to softer, smoother, younger-looking hands. I find this is best for the end of the day - because of its high oil content it's a little greasy.
The packaging is gorgeous - a sturdy vintage-style pot with a twist-off lid so you can get every last drop out. Plus the lid has a picture of a cow on it!

Cruelty free.

Ingredients: prunus amygdalus dulcis (sweet almond) oil, aqua (water, eau), cera alba (beeswax, cire d'abeille), aloe barbadensis leaf juice, kaolin, parfum (fragrance), citrus grandis (grapefruit) fruit extract, non-fat dry milk, chondrus crispus (carrageenan) extract, glycerin, glycine soja (soybean) oil, tocopherol, stearic acid, glucose, sodium borate, sodium chloride, sodium benzoate, glucose oxidase, lactoperoxidase, linalool.

The budget handbag staple:

Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Concentrated Unscented Hand Cream (£3.69)

A classic drugstore hand cream and the first one I ever tried - I remember 'borrowing' my mum's when I was younger. (Sorry mum).It has a thick, gel texture at first, but once on the skin it spreads easily. It absorbs incredibly quickly without leaving any greasiness, making it ideal for work and those busy, on-the-go days - no slimy keyboards, slippery phone screens or greasy marks left anywhere. It's very economical too  - a little goes a long way.

Ingredients: Aqua, Glycerin, Cetaryl Alcohol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Palmitic Acid, Stearic Acid, Sodium Cetaryl Sulphate, Soduim Sulphate, Phenoxyethanol.

The any time, anywhere multi-purpose one:

Ren Vita Mineral Emollient Rescue Cream (£20)

Really it's a face cream, but it works incredibly well on hands. Rich but non-greasy, it feels cossetting and protective. It's wonderful on sensitive skin and great for on-the-go moisturising anywhere on face or body. Includes calming rosa damascena flower water and arctic cranberry, which helps reduce skin sensitivity.

Cruelty-free.

Ingredients: Rosa Damascena Flower Water, Squalane,Cera Alba (Beeswax), Glycerin, Cetearyl Ethylhexanoate, Polyglyceryl-3 Polyricinoleate, Caprylic/CapricTriglyceride, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, Sucrose Distearate, Magnesium Sulphate, Phenoxyethanol, Vaccinium Vitis-Idaea (Lingonberry) Seed Oil, Vaccinium Macrocarpon (Cranberry) Seed Oil, Polyglyceryl-3 Ricinoleate, Sodium Hydroxymethylglycinate,Tocopherol, Citric Acid, Laminaria Ochroleuca Extract, Citronellol, Geraniol.
